Reports to the Principal Investigator. Responsibilities include performing complex molecular and cellular biology experiments and handling mice under general supervision. The qualified applicant must have strong organizational skills and the ability to conduct multiple experiments simultaneously.
Completes projects and experiments in accordance with written protocols that require a highdegree of manual skill and dexterity, as well as a high degree of mental application to secure accurate and difinitive results.
Modifies experimental protocols and/or creates new protocols as necessary to further the goals of the project or to troubleshoot problems.
Maintains organized and detailed laboratory notebooks of experiments performed.
Provides assistance to others in the laboratory as needed to further the general goals of the laboratory.
Assists in the general maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation; maintains general laboratory cleanliness and safety.
Responsible for maintaining and handling experimental animals.
General aptitude in laboratory procedures and techniques.
Strong analytical and computer skills.
Prior experience in performing basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR , agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, restriction digestion, etc.)
Prior experience in handling mice.
Prior experience in growing and maintaining E. coli cultures.
Prior experience in protein electrophoresis and immunoblots analysis a plus.
Prior experience in immunohistochemistry.
Prior experience with computer-based analysis programs a plus (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Sequencer, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
Mammalian tissue culture experience a plus.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in science with emphasis on research techniques, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
Minimum (1) year experience in a research laboratory and a thorough understanding of the overall objectives of the research project.
