Requirements:

Job Description:
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute is an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children, and is part of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania research community.

A Research Tech II position is available in the Orthopedics Research Division of the Research Institute.

The Research Technician II will participate ongoing research projects studying the effect of drugs or gene functions on skeletal muscle, heart, and bone and joint tissue. The successful candidate will process tissue samples derived from experimental animals and carry out histological analysis. The work includes tissue fixation, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, sectioning, staining and imaging. Although detail training will be done in the laboratory, the person must have basic skills of the histology work. Additionally, the Research Tech II will maintain lab instruments related to the histological works and participate other general laboratory chores as assigned or directed, in order to meet the goals and objectives of the laboratory group.

The job specific responsibilities are:
1. Prepares laboratory reagents.
2. Perform routine calculations and maintains appropriate log books and lab notebooks.
3. Performs procedures on experimental samples as directed.
4. Uses and maintains laboratory equipment.

Requirements:
