The successful candidate will manage research projects focusing on the factors influencing the population dynamics of oysters throughout northern Florida. The successful applicant will be required to collect, organize and analyze environmental and biological data. The applicant will also conduct laboratory experiments on marine invertebrates. This position will be located at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (http://www.dep.state.fl.us/coastal/sites/apalachicola/) and travel to remote field sites will be expected several times per year. Finally, much of the work requires scuba. Therefore, all applicants should be active academic scientific research divers (American Academy of Underwater Sciences).
BS in related field required (Biology, Geography, Environmental Science) plus a minimum of six months work-related experience. Applicant must be able to work independently, multitask, and be highly organized, and must be willing and able to travel nationally to work in what can be physically harsh field conditions. Some documented familiarity with working in marine environments is required.
Position is based in Florida with extensive travel required.
