A Bioinformatics Programmer or Analyst Position is immediately available in the Medical Informatics group at Allscripts Healthcare Solutions for a highly motivated individual for building programs using computational formulas and data mining techniques to determine outcomes based on biological/research data-sets.
Medical Informatics Group is a new research/innovations group based within the Allscripts Healthcare Solutions at Malvern (Suburb of Philadelphia) to integrate and translate medical advancements and insights into innovative ideas and catalyze that innovation to apply at the point of care. Successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to interact with leading research efforts in bioinformatics, genetics and genomics, and related clinical sciences, as well as recognized clinical leaders across various medical disciplines. Medical Informatics Group members will also have the opportunity to work with hospitals, medical centers and other outside collaborators in efforts to translate novel biomedical findings into tangible clinical advances. This unique position will require specific skill-sets; the qualified individuals should be self-motivated, intellectually curious and passionate about biomedical research, and be comfortable with ideas of integrating data and methodologies from different scientific and medical domains. Though formal academic training is not required, individuals should possess the necessary skills and experience to both pose and answer important questions in biomedicine in a scientifically rigorous manner using computational and data mining techniques.
Candidates with a M.S/PhD in bio-informatics are encouraged to apply.
B.S candidates with exceptional experience will also be considered.
Programming skills in R, SAS and MATLAB are strongly required.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
This position will report to Director of Medical Informatics at Allscripts and is located in Malvern, PA.
- Development and application of novel informatics methodologies to integrate, interpret and apply appropriate computational and data mining techniques to develop algorithms on patient’s clinical and genomic data to enable novel discoveries and patterns which can help in understanding and making better informed decisions that will drive improved clinical care
- Participate in one of the several active research programs in Biomedical Informatics, which may include on-going research projects (drug/drug interaction studies and drug repositioning, clinical genomics)
- Oversight of or direct participation in the implementation of novel Biomedical Informatics capabilities into clinical practice, such as the development of methods and systems for incorporating genomic sequencing information into patient health records and clinical decision support systems
- Clearly and enthusiastically communicate the outcomes to both scientific and non-scientific personnel
