Battelle’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Energetics (CBRNE) Threat Assessment Team, in our National Security Global Business, is currently seeking a LC/MS/MS chemist for a full time, permanent position at Battelle’s King Avenue facility in Columbus, Ohio . Primary job responsibilities will include the following:
Perform chemical analysis and research in the trace analysis of components in complex mixtures.
Perform a variety of standard preparation, sample preparation and analysis using LC/MS/MS procedures in compliance with applicable methods, test plans, and SOPs.
Work with senior staff to develop and validate methods used to quantify molecules in complex matrices.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment and instrumentation.
Maintain and complete all laboratory documentation clearly.
Manage time effectively to complete assignments within time and budget constraints.
Perform calculations and conversions, and compile the data generated. Coordinate and perform data analysis and prepare data reports.
Perform aspects of equipment operation and maintenance including calibration, operation and maintenance of mass spectrometers (MS) interfaced with gas chromatographs (GC) and/or, high-performance liquid chromatographs (HPLC).
Other duties as assigned.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related scientific field with a minimum of two (2) years of analytical laboratory experience
Experience performing analyses using a triple quad LC/MS/MS instrument.
Proficient in standard wet chemistry techniques
Incumbent must successfully pass medical screening, including the ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE), lift up to 50 pounds, and work in the proximity of toxic chemicals
Incumbent will be subject to a government security investigation and must have the ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Demonstrated experience working with gas chromatographs (GC), high-performance liquid chromatographs (HPLC), and mass spectrometers (MS)
Demonstrated experience with quantitative analysis
Experience working with extremely hazardous chemicals
