BlackRock's Model-Based Fixed Income team develops systematic investment strategies to deliver consistent outperformance for clients within a variety of fixed income markets – including global interest rate products, currencies, corporate bonds, credit default swaps, mortgage-backed securities, and related derivatives. The team implements these strategies across a global suite of institutional products and hedge funds.
BlackRock is seeking a Research Analyst to join Model-Based Fixed Income’s Global Rates Research group in our San Francisco office. This team develops and manages systematic strategies trading global government bonds and related interest rate derivatives across multiple developed markets. Strategies utilize macro-economic, technical, and relative value insights and are implemented across a global suite of hedge funds and other institutional accounts.
Research Analysts will:
Work closely under the direction of a senior researcher to conduct empirical research on proposed trading strategies
Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of the research data infrastructure
Prepare attribution of investment strategy performance
Help design and maintain spreadsheets and other tools to facilitate strategy implementation and monitoring
Successful candidates will possess outstanding empirical research skills, a passion for creative and critical thinking about financial markets, and a desire to work cooperatively and diligently as part of a small, focused team. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, econometrics, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline is advantageous but not required.
A passion for investigating financial markets and developing new investment strategies
Strong programming skills (preferably including MATLAB, as well as R)
Knowledge of Fixed Income would be advantageous, as would a working knowledge of econometrics or modern statistics
Experience with Excel/spreadsheets and SQL highly desirable
Strong attention to detail and outstanding work ethic
Proven track record of delivery under time constraints
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
