About the Unit

Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago is seeking a Researcher to work with a team of researchers on a variety of early care and education projects. The individual will play an essential role in project development, study design, data analysis, preparation of reports concerning research results, and communication with stakeholders regarding data analysis and research findings. Salary commensurate with experience.

Doctoral degree in Public Policy or a social science which includes completion of a dissertation involving quantitatively focused research required.


A minimum of four years of experience involved with quantitatively - focused research required.

Research experience include analysis of federal and state early care and education policies and practices required.

Research experience include converting complex survey and administrative data into research ready formats required.

Research experience include use of quantitative methods for program evaluation required.


Advanced knowledge in relevant scientific field required.

Advanced knowledge of research techniques or methods required.

Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures required.

Analytical skills required.

Problem-solving skills required.

Attention to detail required.

Organizational skills required.

Verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team required.

Ability to train others required.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

Supervisory skills preferred.
