A. Program Operations: Become thoroughly familiar with current show programs (both live and pre-recorded) and the equipment operations required for the programs in order to be able to present the program promptly and in a smooth and professional manner.
B. Public Inquiries: During live program, answer questions from members of the audience and give brief tour of the current night sky. Answer routine astronomical inquiries from the public, and refer non-routine inquiries to the full-time Planetarium staff for a response.
C. Security: Have a working knowledge of established emergency procedures and be able to implement them to ensure the safety of our guests
D. Theater Maintenance: Perform minor emergency maintenance, such as replacement of projector lamps or fuses, should the necessity arise during shows. Notify the full-time staff immediately of any major equipment problems which may develop. Assist in various aspects of show production, when requested.
E. Notify full-time staff of any maintenance issues with the lobby, gift shop or party room so that they can be corrected in a timely manner.
F. Perform other duties as assigned. (M.E.)

A. Bachelor’s degree.
B. Planetarium experience, formal course preparation in astronomy or a comparable science discipline is required. Ability to stay current with astronomical information/events (current night sky, space missions, and astronomical discoveries).
C. Ability to master the equipment operations required for quality program presentation is required.
D. Proper attitude toward maintaining the high standards of quality of all Planetarium programs, and a sense of showmanship are essential.
E. Demonstrated ability to function harmoniously with the general public and to maintain audience rapport is essential.
F. Public speaking and good communications skills are essential

Hours of Work:
The Reserve Planetarium Presenter is employed in accordance with the Miscellaneous Salary Guide on an “on call as needed” basis. Normal work hours: Friday and Saturday evenings; Saturday and Sunday late mornings/afternoons; some daytime, weekday performances, particularly during vacation/holiday breaks. Regular, prompt attendance shall be considered an essential job responsibility.
