Reservoir Engineer on the Exploration team will include working with a multi-discipline team including A&D, planning and economics, petrophysics, geology, geophysics, drilling, facilities , production and completion engineering. Interface with WPX team members in Denver, Tulsa and Field. Work with outside vendors and consultants and be able to guide the analytical workflow with support of a more experienced engineer. Represent reservoir engineering issues for WPX in meetings with potential partners. Present engineering analysis to team and management.
Reservoir engineering span of duties will be broad including decline curve analysis, rate-transient analysis, log and core formation evaluation, volumetric and material balance calculations and understanding of fluid properties. Drive mechanisms will include volumetric, waterflood and enhanced oil recovery. Software tools may include Harmony, WellTest, PowerTools, Exodus, PetroDE and Petra.
Will learn exploration workflow as member of exploration team including understanding conventional and unconventional risk and uncertainty. College courses and some experience in subsurface geology expected. Require ability to quickly come up to competency with economic evaluations describing engineering and geologic technical risk factors. Software tools may include Unconventional Resource Analysis (Rose & Associates), ARIES, Crystal Ball and SpotFire.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with some post-graduate professional industry experience.
