Manage a technical reservoir team for the Piceance Asset team. Responsible and accountable for managing reservoir engineering activities, optimization of reservoir practices, building/maintaining a staff of technical professionals and be a strong leader in their department, as well as, in the asset team. Position will require knowledge of and experience with unconventional plays to enable good decision, problem solving, and implementation practices.
Specific responsibilities include:
•Lead a team of Reservoir Engineers, Project Analyst, and Engineering Technician.
•Oversight of the ARIES reserves database for PDP wells and all undeveloped locations in the asset.
•Accountable for the year-end Piceance reserves estimates and ensure adherence and compliance with SEC and accounting practices.
•Coordinate and provide annually a 5-year development plan utilizing input from all asset departments. Ensure accuracy and timeliness with submission of plan.
•Participate in technical determinations of future bottom-hole locations and well density.
•Provide technical input to A&D and Land for potential acquisitions or trades. Inputs include reserve determinations, development schedule, capital costs, and lease expenses.
•Prepare and make management presentations; provide requested information for external analyst and BOD presentations.
•Oversee and direct technical reservoir projects and support for the asset and other departments.
Requires ability to manage people at all levels and implement a positive and enthusiastic team environment. Will require being organized and have excellent communication skills to work with other departments to execute a high rig level development program that supports the WPX business plan.
•BS in engineering (PE degree is preferred) with +/- 15 years of industry experience
•Extensive technical experience in reservoir engineering practices working with unconventional/resource plays
•Strong evaluation skills in value determination of oil and gas properties
•Needs high level of proficiency with ARIES software with solid computer skills overall
•Previous formal or informal leadership experience preferred especially in the area of mentoring and training junior level engineers
•Advanced analytical skills using MS Excel and MS Access
•Demonstrated effective collaboration and team building skills
•Manage multiple tasks, efficiently and effectively
•Be able to interface with a variety of diverse opinions, different departments and disciplines
•Desire and adeptness to teach and share knowledge
