The Office of Residential Life at Skidmore College is seeking one live-in, twelve-month Residence Hall Director. This position reflects Skidmore College's commitment to excellence and community. Fifty percent of the Hall Director's time will be an ancillary position assigned by the Office of Residential Life.

Residence Hall Director Assignment (50%): Create and maintain a healthy community; maintain visibility in the residence hall with daily student contact; facilitate educational programming in the hall; meet with students to address personal, social and academic concerns; refers students to appropriate offices on campus (i.e. Counseling Center, Health Services, Campus Safety) when indicated; communicate with parents as appropriate.

Supervise the Resident Assistants; provide training, support, and evaluate student staff. Manage the residence hall and ancillary residence hall including, one head resident, responsibility for safety, building maintenance, room changes, room/hall inventories, damage assessments, openings and closings throughout the academic year; facilitate educational, social, health and safety programs in the hall.

Maintain close working relationships with the Office of Residential Life and other offices and programs on campus; assist with Residential Life Staff Orientation, In-Service Training Programs, and new student orientation.

Rotate weekend "on-call" campus duty (Friday from 4:30 p.m. through Monday at 8:30 a.m.) with eight other Residence Hall Directors/Head Residents and be available to all students during emergencies.

Student Affairs Assignment (50%): Work in conjunction with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs to oversee the coordination and delivery of the Student Conduct program including identifying educational and learning outcomes, assisting with hearing board training, and administering student conduct hearings.

Reporting structure: This position answers to the Community Coordinator in the assigned quad and the Associate Director of Residential Life and/or Associate Dean of Student Affairs for the ancillary role.

Experience in Student Affairs with strong ties to residential life. Excellent administrative, leadership, supervisory and communication skills. Ability to work well with students, staff, and faculty of diverse interests and backgrounds. Master degree required.

Pay Range:
$24,000 - $25,500 commensurate with experience plus room and board package
