Review service plans and perform personal care as outlined
Document on the ADL Flow Sheet the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident’s response or lack of response to care provided
Document incidents and/or unusual problems according to established facility procedures
Identify resident problems and concerns and report them immediately to a supervising nurse
Obtain temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures and weights on residents as assigned
Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance of a supervising nurse
Report changes in residents’ conditions to supervising nurse as soon as practicable
Follow facility procedures for admission, discharge and transfer of residents
Respond to residents’ calls for assistance in timely, courteous, and effective manner
Consistently work cooperatively with residents, families, supervising nurses and other co-workers, physicians, consultant personnel and ancillary service providers
Greet and welcome facility tour participants
Calls residents by preferred name: does not use terms such as “honey, sweetie,” or other terms which may depersonalize the resident.
Establish good public relations with families and visitors, home health agency personnel, etc.
Listen to resident or family concerns, initiate corrective action as appropriate, and report concerns and action taken to Director of Health Services
Assume accountability for resident satisfaction survey results, as pertains to nursing service department
Identify safety hazards and emergency situations, and initiate corrective action, and report to Director of Health Services
Observe all facility safety policies and procedures
Observe infection control procedures
Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision
Reports injuries of self, residents, other staff and visitors timely and according to facility procedures
MEDICATION REMIND AND ASSIST
Obtain approval from supervising nurse to remind and assist residents with self-administration of medications
Assess residents for untoward signs and side effects of medications
Stays with resident until all medication is consumed to ensure that they are taken
Assists resident with secure storage of medications in apartment
Documents, as appropriate, that resident was reminded and assisted with self-administration of medications
KINGSTON AMBASSADOR (as appointed)
Responsible for training new hires per program format
Help new resident assistants socialize and provide introductions to other staff members
Help new resident assistants with first time assignments and set priorities
Be a source of information such as policies, procedures, work rules, norms and where to find information
Serve as a tour guide
Provide feedback to new employees
Assist Director of Health Services in interviewing candidates for resident assistant positions as needed
Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures
Consistently models behaviors promoting Kingston philosophies
Attend all in-service classes as assigned and complete assignments
Assume personal responsibility for following facility procedures related to control and use of department equipment and supplies
Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability, punctuality and accountability
Come to work in a clean, neat uniform and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance
Assume accountability for data contained in the employee handbook
Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely, cooperative and professional manner
Perform other related duties as assigned by his/her supervisor and/or facility management
Follow Residents’ Rights at all times
Observe all facility policies and procedures
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School grad, GED or otherwise demonstrate an ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
Good communication skills are necessary.
Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderly
Position requires sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, stretching, lifting, grasping, and reaching.
Immediate response to resident and/or facility emergency is required.
