The Home provides programs and services for these children and young adults in crisis:

  • Medically fragile and terminally ill children who require 24-hour-a-day skilled nursing care.
  • Those who require emergency care due to abuse, abandonment, neglect or are homeless; or who need foster care.
  • To homeless, pregnant, or parenting teens, and their family members needing case management, education, parenting, and independent living skills.
  • Children with autism & special needs.
  • Young adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, are in crisis due to mental health or abuse, and to families who are struggling to maintain their children in their homes to provide stability and skills for self-sufficiency.
Home of the Innocents is seeking Resident Counselors to provide direct care intervention, support and attention to ensure the physical and emotional needs of all children are appropriately addressed.

Full-time, Part-time, and Relief positions are available on 1st (7am-3pm), 2nd (3-11pm) and 3rd (11pm-7am) shifts.

Relief Resident Counselors provide coverage when Full and Part-time Counselors can not be here to work their scheduled shifts due to Paid Leave (illness, vacation, etc). Relief Resident Counselors are required to work at minimum 5 shifts per month. Two of the 5 shifts must be on a weekend. Relief Resident Counselors are expected to work with any client population or in any house in which they are needed. Training will be provided to ensure that each Relief Resident Counselor has the understanding and skills to do so.

All Resident Counselors, whether Full/Part-time or Relief) must complete 10 full days of training before working directly with the children. NOTE: If you work another job, you will be required to attend training during the day-time hours on weekdays.

Client Populations:
Hockensmith House - teen boys
Rotary House - teen girls
Gheens House - teen girls
ALPS House - sexually reactive teen girls
Ben's House - infants to 18 year olds, both girls and boys
Energy House - 6 to 12 year olds, both girls and boys
Cralle Day House (Pregnant/Parenting and Independent Living Skills programs) - teen girls and infants/toddlers

Education Requirements:
A Bachelors degree in a related human services field and one year of experience working with children in an agency setting preferred.
Must possess a High School diploma and minimum of 6 months child care experience.

Job Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a 15 passenger van.
Must complete training for Safe Crisis Management certification.
Must be willing to administer medication to residents.
Must possess adequate computer and writing skills to ensure proper documentation.
Must be able to lift small children up to 40 pounds.

Salary:
Relief $9.50 per hour
Full and Part-time: $9.65 (high school diploma) or $10.15 (BA degree)

Differentials (applicable for Relief, Full and Part-time):
10% shift differential for 3-11 pm
$0.75 weekend differntial for any shift worked on a weekend
