The nation's largest child advocacy association, National PTA, currently has an opening for a Resource Development Manager located in Alexandria, Virginia. The Resource Development Manager is responsible for managing relationships with national sponsors and other corporate partners, leading internal cross-functional efforts to meet sponsor deliverables and requests, generating sponsorship and exhibit sales for annual convention, liaising with media representative on digital and print advertising and assisting department with other fundraising objectives.

The Resource Development Manager will also be responsible for the following:

Manages relationships with national sponsors and other corporate partners, including tracking and meeting contractual obligations

Collaborates with various departments to ensure that all contractual obligations are met timely and satisfactorily

Generates sponsorship and exhibit sales for annual convention

Teams with various departments and outside contractors on convention planning

Leads exhibition logistics, sponsor recognition and sponsored events at convention

Liaises with media representative on digital and print advertising in all media assets, including magazine, website and e-Newsletters

Updates prospectus materials for various fundraising areas, including sponsorship, convention, advertising, etc.
Prepares and coordinates cultivation, solicitation and other materials to support fundraising responsibilities

Monitors and coordinates accounting activities, as appropriate, and prepares internal reports for management

Participates in annual budget planning process

Maintains highest level of confidentiality of donor and potential donor information

Works with Director of Resource Development to define and prioritize personal and departmental goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Minimum 5 years experience in sponsorships, member benefit programs, donor relations, special event planning, and/or account management is required.

Previous experience in a not-for-profit organization or education sector is desirable.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail is required.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks and deadlines is required.

Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements is essential.

Knowledge and understanding of meeting and event planning principles, requirements and procedures is needed.

Requires an outgoing and poised individual that can work well with National PTA staff, board volunteers and leadership, as well as potential donors.

Must possess the ability to work independently while keeping supervisor apprised of opportunities, issues, problems and progress.

Willingness to travel is required, including overnight and weekend travel.

Working knowledge of computers, preferably in a PC, windows based operating environment. Competency in MS Office is required.
