Plan curriculum/ learning materials, prepare lessons, and instruct students in all academic areas to meet the individual need of students, considering state and school requirements, physical, emotional, and educational levels of development.
Confer with parents, administrators, and other related service staff in the development of individual educational program for students.
Prepare, write, and implement individual special education plans (IEP's), and progress reports for your caseload.
Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Instruct students to improve memory, language, cognition, and social and emotional development.
Work with students to increase motivation, provide consistent reinforcement for learning, regularly assess student level of functioning, and provide regular feedback to student for all learning activities.
Work with parents to accept and develop skills in dealing with student's disability
Effectively communicate with supervisors, peers, or paraprofessionals
by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Complete Medicaid Billing as required
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A) - From four-year college or university.
Experience as a teacher of special education students (desired).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement.
