Under the direction of the Respiratory Care Supervisors and charge, the Respiratory Care Practitioner 3 (RCP3) coordinates the implementation of Respiratory Care Protocols and Physician orders to achieve the goal of effective utilization of services and improved patient outcomes. In conjunction with the leadership staff, this position is responsible for recommending and delegating the delivery of patient care through proper management of Respiratory Care Protocols, Physician orders and advanced Respiratory skills.
Nature and Scope:
This position acts as a role model, resource and coach to the Respiratory Care Staff, physicians and ancillary departments. This position is expected to integrate the respiratory care of the patient with other care providers to achieve desired results. The incumbent is responsible for the proper documentation of all patient records and department logs. The incumbent is responsible for keeping abreast of technological advances in the Respiratory and health care field, and is well versed in appropriate clinical areas.
The incumbent is accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation of care, and evaluation of Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients and families. They must demonstrate the ability to work with patient’s physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive and psychosocial needs specific to the population being served, and meet standards of quality as measured by the Unit/Department age specific competencies.
“Respiratory Care” means the treatment, management, diagnostic testing, control and care of persons with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. The incumbent has the authority to perform and evaluate respiratory care given, to initiate CPR, to contact physicians in relation to care ordered, and perform all activities as assigned.
Continuous comprehensive mental effort is required to provide optimal safe patient care and the same mental effort is required when interacting with internal and external contacts, exercising judgments, and making decisions.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
Minimum five-years of full-time Respiratory Care in an acute care setting. Must complete 10 or more additional competency requirement points annually as listed in the Competency Data Sheet for RCP3. Per Diem employees are not eligible.
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Board of Medical Examiners Respiratory Care Practitioner License. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
Current AHA BLS certification required. Current ACLS certification required.
PALS required before end of introductory period and ongoing thereafter. NRP required before end of introductory period and ongoing thereafter for those RCP3’s acting in the facilitator role
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
