Under the direction of the Respiratory Care Manager, collaborates with the patient care team in the development, modification, and implementation of the respiratory care plan for neonates, pediatrics, adolescence, adults, and geriatric patients. Administers routine and specialized respiratory and critical care interventions to inpatients and outpatient patients of Regions Hospital. Performs specific diagnostic procedures as requested by the patient care team. Maintains, operates and troubleshoots respiratory and critical care equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy and/or graduation from a two year American Medical Association approved training program in Respiratory Care. Coursework and credentials (i.e., graduate of two year respiratory therapist program plus CRT credential) which meet the qualifications for the registry exam of the National Board for Respiratory Care may substitute for the associate degree.
Experience: None required. Prefer one year of hospital experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of routine and emergency respiratory care procedures.
Knowledge of respiratory care supplies and equipment.
Knowledge of pharmacological agents used in the treatment of respiratory care.
Ability to use a computer to view, enter and retrieve patient data.
Licensure/Certification: Registered as Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with State of Minnesota.
BCLS certified or become upon hire.
ACLS certified or become within one year of hire.
Minimum Certified Registered Therapy (CRT) credential from NBRC upon hire.
