JOB LOCATION: The Respiratory Therapist position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana

JOB DUTIES: The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing respiratory care (and cardiac testing) duties as assigned; Participates in emergency resuscitations; Draws arterial blood and analyzes sample for blood gas and electrolyte studies; Performs respiratory patient assessment; Sets up and maintains mechanical ventilators and various types of oxygen and respiratory care equipment to administer medically approved gases, drugs, and therapeutic treatments for the improvement of cardio-respiratory functions

EXPERIENCE: Experience to be determined by department manager

EDUCATION: Associate of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in Respiratory Therapy or its equivalent is required; Equivalency: Technical certificates verifying Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and/or RRT eligibility and/or CRT plus required number of years working as a respiratory therapist and additional college requirements as specified by the NBRC

LICENSE: Indiana Respiratory Care Practitioner License required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required and must be provided in writing by the NBRC; If a new graduate, RRT must be obtained within 2 years of graduation

SKILLS: Understanding of Cardiopulmonary principles, theories, and processes consistent with that required for state licensing and national registry; Ability to communicated tactfully and effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and visitors is required; Pharmacological understanding of respiratory medicine dosages for all age groups; Understanding of various respiratory therapy treatment modalities for all age groups; Understanding of anatomical and physiological differences in neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations from a cardiopulmonary perspective
