St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is one of the nation’s premier providers of intensive rehabilitation and specialized care for children with special needs and life-limiting conditions. Children are referred to St. Mary’s for the finest rehabilitative and specialized care. Some are with us for a short period of intensive rehabilitation following hospitalization. Others come to St. Mary’s for long-term specialized care and services, including Respiratory.

Respiratory Therapist

St. Mary's is currently seeking Full Time Respiratory Therapists to work 12 hour shifts; days and nights available. The respiratory therapist will, under limited supervision, provide Respiratory Therapy Services for our 97 bed post-acute pediatric facility. This will be accomplished by collaborating with the Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team in the development, modification, and implementation of the respiratory care plan for pediatric and young adults. The Respiratory Therapist will administer routine and specialized respiratory interventions to inpatient residents of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children. Additional key responsibilities include: performing specific diagnostic procedures as ordered by The MD; maintaining, operating and troubleshooting respiratory equipment; conducting performance improvement activities within the department; participating in Interdisciplinary Care Plan Meetings; and conducting staff and family education.

Graduation from high school, or the equivalent

Completion of an associate or higher degree program in respiratory therapy

Must be registered or registry-eligible by the National Board for Respiratory Therapist by the N.Y.S. Dept. of Education and hold a current license in NYS

Minimum of 3 years experience

BLS required; PALS/ACLS preferred

Experience working with the neonatal and pediatric population preferred
