Job Summary/Essential Functions
The Retention Specialist will deliver and coordinate broad professional support to students at Eastern Washington University by working with the PLUS team in coordinating the EWU Learning Commons' PLUS programing. The position will also be responsible for student advocacy, curriculum building, instruction, workshops, and the hiring, supervision, and training of student workers. Each retention specialist will have an assigned focus area, such as (but not limited to): Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Coaching/Mentoring, and Academic Bridge.
Conditions of Employment
This position is part of the PSE bargaining unit.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt or, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check for continued employment.

Master's degree in counseling, education, English, psychology, social work, sociology, or related fields of study from an accredited university/college.

Term of Appointment
: 12 months
Typically M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm; occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
1.Master's degree in counseling, education, English, psychology, social work, sociology, or related fields of study from an accredited university/college.
2.Work experience coordinating university programs that provide academic service to multiple participants.
3.Work experience utilizing university educational best-practices, particularly in the areas of student learning and academic support to facilitate student success inside and outside of the classroom.
4.Evidence that demonstrates an ability to build partnerships and work effectively in a team setting.
Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.
1.Two years' experience coordinating a tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and/or bridge program at a college or university.
2.Three years of experience working with university students
3.Work experience involving hiring, supervising, training, and/or organizing employees or volunteer staff.
