The Retirement team is focused on delivering Capital Group’s investment management capabilities in the retirement area to financial advisers and consultants. By delivering valuable products, tools, services and content we strive to support adviser’s efforts to help their clients meet their long-term financial objectives. Examples of the retirement business focus include Defined Contribution Plans, Individual Retirement Accounts, and Target Date Funds.

As a Retirement Business Development Professional you possess a strong knowledge of retirement products and/or sales experience in financial services. You will be responsible for supporting the execution of go-to-market strategies for Capital’s retirement business to achieve sales goals in the markets we serve. You will be responsible for coordinating resources and driving project initiatives while acting as a subject matter expert to the Retirement Line of Business and internal stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate and execute projects in a collaborative environment across the Retirement line of business and support larger, company-wide initiatives.
  • Identify synergies across our institutional, adviser-sold, and insurance sales efforts.
  • Develop and execute project plans by identifying project objectives and participants, delegating tasks, scheduling and facilitating meetings, and establishing, tracking and reviewing deliverables.
  • Support larger departmental and multi-departmental projects through research and analysis.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more areas within the Retirement Line of Business.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of assigned products within our business area, including product construction, rules and regulations, sales and marketing approach and services offered. Areas of expertise may include, recordkeeping platforms and related services, IRA's, new funds, website tools or services we offer to financial advisers, consultants, and their clients.
  • Become a go-to resource for the department by developing and deepening knowledge within area of expertise, staying abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes.
  • Help to design products and sales and marketing approaches; identify and research new products or enhancements to existing ones.
  • Act as a hub for project information, initiating and leading discussions among project team members and other functional groups such as Communications, Marketing and Legal.
  • Coordinate the implementation and external communication of changes to our offerings.
  • Reviews the content of marketing materials for accuracy, positioning and tone as well as consistency of message with other communications materials. Ensures that content is technically accurate and not misleading, working with writers and communicators as needed.
  • Maintains consistency between updates of a product line and sales and marketing approach.
  • Identifies ways to improve content on the Web or in print.

    Hiring Criteria
  • Demonstrated knowledge of retirement products and the facets of distribution within the financial services community
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with a broad range of departments and individuals both inside the organization and externally
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to effectively lead/manage projects across multiple teams or groups
  • Possesses intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity, ambiguity and diversity
  • Previous sales experience in the financial services industry desirable
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of software and data programs and ability to apply it to work assignments
