Responsible for directing the revenue cycle operations of the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation. This position is critical to the success of the revenue cycle process; in conjunction with clinical and non-clinical staff, the revenue cycle manager will contribute to the day-to-day operations on all issues related to the revenue cycle functions. This position will work with the Patient Accounts and Health Information Management Systems (HIMS) departments on revenue cycle performance to meet short term and strategic goals. Provide analytical analysis, create written processes and train others in implementing a cross functional revenue cycle team. Assures revenue processes are in compliance with all regulatory and advisory organizations and are managed in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the healthcare industry.
BA Degree in Healthcare Administration, Accounting, or Business Administration plus 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a health care setting. MA in Finance/Accounting or MBA desirable.
Must have the ability to understand, apply and analyze computerized accounting and information systems. Must have the ability to supervise others and maintain cooperative relationships.
Ability to manage multiple projects and interact with patients and staff in a positive manner.
Ability to analyze financial and operating information to facilitate departmental and organizational decision making.
Must have the ability to present findings and train large groups of people and posses the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
Working knowledge of all Microsoft applications and Meditech; understanding of RPMS desired.
Understanding of Indian Health Services and Alaska Tribal Health Systems desired.
Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Directs all aspects of the revenue cycle. Is responsible for monitoring an efficient and effective revenue cycle designed to maximize revenues while adhering to compliance policies and procedures under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer
HIMS and Patient Accounting process alignment.
Oversight of backlog, denials, and collections.
Up-to-date training for coders and billers.
Maintain currency with Medicare and Medicaid regulations for billable and non-billable services.
Provide month end reports including collections, AR, denials, and backlogs.
Work closely with the CFO for revenue enhancement activities.
Assess and work with billing packages and recommend changes if necessary.
Develops departmental budget submissions to align with the BBAHC strategy map.
Mentors, coaches, and counsels staff to develop excellent contribution to the BBAHC mission and assist in understanding the individual’s role in the strategic plan. Fully documents staff issues. Resolves staff issues at the lowest level possible. Keeps supervisor aware of staff issues. Develops and timely submits annual staff performance evaluations aligned to the BBAHC strategy map.
Maintains full compliance with the laws, regulations, grant terms, and BBAHC policies pertinent to the department. Ensures department activities meet all applicable accrediting body standards and CMS Conditions of Participation. Actively avoids fraud, waste, and abuse. Seeks methods and activities to enhance BBAHC revenues.
Directs departmental Performance Improvement initiatives. Tracks and reports accomplishments. Develops and oversees Quality Calendar activities.
Responds to all Customer Comments and/or RMEs presented in a complete and timely manner.
Ensures department procedures align with and support organizational policies.
