Reporting to the Senior Director for Clinic Operations at the College of Dental Medicine (CDM), the Revenue Cycle Specialist will provide classroom and hands-on training to the staff working in the outpatient facilities of the CDM. Providing more than 120,000 visits annually, CDM utilizes a fully integrated electronic record and billing system and is the largest provider of comprehensive oral health services in northern Manhattan. Training is intended to ensure compliance with the Policies and Procedure of CDM, strengthen the revenue cycle performance, and promote efficient and accurate use of the axiUm Electronic Health Record (EHR). The incumbent will use their knowledge of dental practice management/operations and the Policies and Procedures of the College to provide procedural training on workflow areas, such as Patient Registration, Patient Account management and Reconciliation, Insurance Plans and Coverage, Lab Tracking, and Patient Scheduling. The Revenue Cycle Specialist will make a significant contribution to the redesign of revenue cycle processes and systems in an electronic record environment. The incumbent will be a change agent within Clinical Operations, and will take the initiative to investigate revenue cycle performance shortfalls and participate in developing the action plans for resolution. The Specialist will serve as a liaison for and work closely with Clinical Information Systems staff to resolve problems and enhance the EHR implementation. Responsibilities: Develop AxiUm specific training materials in support of the Policy and Procedure Manual. Conduct training as requested by the Senior Director of Clinical Operations. Work with clinical supervisors to identify staff training needs and develop a training schedule for various staff categories. Develop and oversee the orientation and training program for new staff that covers system training and policies and procedures. Document user problems and errors. Track error trends and propose solutions. In collaboration with supervisors and other units, develop and implement monitoring programs to assess training effectiveness and support staff development. Participate in the ongoing development/writing of new policies and procedures, and revising the existing manual as appropriate. In collaboration with other units, develop certification programs for staff training. Perform other special assignments and related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in training and/or experience plus a minimum of three years' experience in Dental Office revenue cycle procedures. Minimum of two years' work experience in a health care environment as a trainer or user of an Electronic Health Record. Proficient with developing PowerPoint presentations and speaking in front of groups. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear instructions, document processes, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AxiUm or other enterprise EHR systems. Three years of recent dental practice experience, including registration and billing, including CDT. Experience working in a busy dental clinic environment.
