Altarum Institute, a nonprofit systems research and consulting organization serving government and private sector clients, is seeking a Software and Interface Developer in our Information and Technology Strategies (ITS) practice area at our Ann Arbor, MI headquarters. The Software and Interface Developer will be responsible for working with local, State, and National labs to bring Electronic Lab Reports into Michigan Public Health Systems. The State of Michigan is at the forefront of Interoperability standards, and the Software Developer will play a critical role in continuing that trajectory of growth.

The ITS practice area is composed of more than 50 technical professionals with a variety of educational backgrounds, including M.D., Ph.D., Master, and Bachelor degree levels. ITS professionals develop and promote best practices in the application of information technology to health and health care. Applying systems research principles and analytic objectivity, we work to increase access to health information; improve the organization and usability of health information; and develop new knowledge from health information.
• Interface Development
o Work with local, State and National labs to bring Electronic Lab Reports into Michigan Public Health Systems.
o Work with CDC messaging guides to develop out-going messages.
o Create and maintain Rhapsody routes.
o Monitor existing production messaging systems.
o Work with Health Information Exchanges to bring data into Michigan Public Health Systems.
o Install and maintain message system software.
• Maintain and enhance several Michigan Public Health Systems. This includes:
o Requirements gathering
o System design
• 3+ years of experience with Orion Rhapsody software development is an absolute requirement.
• Experience with other interface engines such as Mirth or NextGen is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience with major database products such as Oracle, SQL, and Teradata.
• Be located in, or willing to relocate to the state of Michigan.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software/computer programs.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States of America
