The Risk Analyst would be responsible for commodity risk monitoring of the following activities as assigned:
Generation (merchant/quasi-merchant assets and their respective hedging activities including structured transactions), Natural Gas Storage & Transportation (and their respective hedging activities including structured transactions).
Some of the tasks involved are:
Monitoring Positions & PL for the generation (including gas storage) portfolio
Providing key risk metrics (Open Position, Gas Length)
Running asset valuation
and deal (MTM) valuation
General understanding of power and natural gas markets fundamentals
General understanding of commercial operations of generation assets and their value drivers
nderstanding the market mechanics, products and following the activities and regulations of ERCOT, NEPOOL, PJM and NY power regions.
nderstanding the processes, applications and fundamentals for the tasks above to be able to explain the moves in any risk vectors and risk metrics.
Measuring compliance with the risk governance according to Risk Policy (monitoring and reporting of hedging plans and strategies).
Act as a contributor to the Middle Office team to continue to integrate and improve the different risk control/analysis processes and systems.

Bachelor’s in business, technology or a quantitative discipline (Master’s+ preferred)
Energy industry experience within quantitative, financial/controlling, or commercial areas is preferred
Solid knowledge in Excel and VBA, proficiency in PowerPoint
Experience in high level quantitative analysis, data analysis and reporting
Working knowledge of energy commodity transactions (forwards and options) and financial engineering
Knowledge of SunGard Aligne preferred
