High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 5 years healthcare experience
  • SUMMARY: The Risk Management Assistant position requires advanced clerical, organization and software skills. General duties include including typing, filing, scheduling meetings, and using independent judgment to coordinate and complete tasks with minimal supervision to support the function of the risk management department.

    The Risk Management Assistant exercises general administrative decisions associated with coordination of office activities within the scope of the position as directed by the Director of Risk Management.

    The Risk Management Assistant understands the Ascension Health Risk Management policies and procedures and utilizes this information to complete tasks.

    The Risk Management Assistant uses independent judgment to coordinate and complete, with minimal supervision, the clerical details of the department including, organization of processes and information necessary for patient care within the department. Responsible for obtaining appropriate information various departments for insurance renewals.

    Essential functions : –

    Utilizes Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Meditract to support department functions –

    Responsible for data entry into the Ascension Health systems for HPL and GL claims –

    Utilizes the SAFER system (ERS and PR modules); enters data, generates reports from both modules –

    Queries MRO system and prepares weekly report –

    Runs Meditech reports as directed –

    Gathers information from various hospital departments as needed to support insurance renewals –

    Prepares requests for Certificates of Insurance, Claims Histories and insurance verification documents for internal and external use –

    Performs all the clerical functions associated with management of litigation at the direction of the Director of Risk Management. –

    Maintains legal files in prescribed format –

    Maintains department files –

    Schedules meetings and reserves rooms –

    Prepares documents as directed –

    Answers department phone lines –

    Responsible for completing check requests and verifying charges while providing excellent customer service.

    Required Education: One year certificate from college or technical school

    Required Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in corporate or healthcare setting
