POSITION SUMMARY:

The Risk Management Data Analyst will be responsible for the development and maintenance of risk data capture systems, data analysis, and generation of reports on various risk management initiatives. The position will largely be responsible for development of operational dashboard reporting and the measurement of compliance with various regulatory thresholds. In addition the position will require the establishment of numerous data structures necessary to support accurate and effective risk management. This position requires interaction with senior management, employees, and other interested third parties including direct interaction with state and federal regulators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Core system issue research and remedy.
  • Development of various risk management data resources required to accurately capture and report risk trends.
  • Scorecard development and maintenance.
  • Accessing/pulling loan-level data from multiple internal data sources using various programs/languages (SAS, SQL, Business Objects, etc.).
  • Identifying key risk drivers of the portfolio throughout the entire production, servicing and default cycle (production demographics, collections, loss mitigation, bankruptcy, foreclosure, REO) using programs such as SAS, SPSS, or Knowledge Seeker
  • Identifying opportunities and developing strategies to reduce the potential for losses via operational risks.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and business partners to identify, prioritize, and implement improvements to the existing data collection and analysis methodologies.
  • Assist with Stonegate’s federal, state, and other audit reviews and responses.
  • Understand Stonegate’s business and growth strategies and provide compliance recommendations to senior management to support these strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience:
  • 4 year degree and from an accredited university preferably in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research or other quantitative fields
  • 2 years analytical experience, preferably in credit risk management or default analytics
  • Background in diversified financial services company is desirable. Repurchase or Quality Control analysis experience is a plus. Mortgage Servicing analysis experience is also a plus
  • Mortgage industry and/or Financial Services experience is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of databases SQL and/or SAS
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SQL, Unix, and other data programming languages also desirable
  • Able to spend large amounts of time pulling, handling, and analyzing loan-level data in a fast paced and highly demanding environment
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment
  • Testing of data populations to assist in the assessment of regulations such as RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, etc.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage time
  • Desire to take personal responsibility to complete tasks and solve problems
  • Ability to perform tasks and complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively – both in written and verbal form
  • Desire to have a basic understanding of the mortgage process/industry
