The Safety Department, located in Arcadia, California, has an opening for Risk Management Representative (formerly titled Safety Coordinator). This position will cover District 57- Central San Diego
Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:
•High School graduate with a four year college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
•Three years of retail Grocery and/or retail management experience preferred or at least two years of Safeway Retail experience, preferably in a management position
•Good communication skills - oral and written.
•Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and priorities well.
•Ability to work directly with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
•Ability to conduct effective training to diverse groups.
•Able to multi-task, manage several projects at one time, and work well in a team environment.
•Has strong, proven record in Safety, Service, Sales and Shrink.
•Has worked in a variety of positions within a store.
•Strong project / time management /execution skills.
•Excellent communication skills, can communicate upward as well as with peers and subordinates.
•Strong analytical / problem solving skills. Ability to critically evaluate data and reach reasonable conclusions.
•Strong written skills.
•Proficient PC skills including Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and online claims system.
•Skilled at negotiating and coaching
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Assess stores into Tier one, two, or three category on quarterly basis
•With DM / supervisor / LCM - develop action plan for Tier I and II stores with plan for support of Tier III stores
•Partner with Backstage and Division personnel in support of store safety issues
•Set up ongoing meetings with DM and supervisors to review action plans and discuss trends
•Analyze, summarize and communicate trends and call-to-action for DM / store managers / ASM using safety and operational reports
•Support ASM in their execution of their safety responsibilities
•Act as consultant on technical issues for store management teams
•Represent Corp. / Div during interactions with regulatory agencies
•Spend 80+% of time in stores executing action plans
•Work as assigned by Supervisor / LCM. When assigned conflicting requests for involvement, work through supervisor to mitigate issues
•Act as trainer / coach for development of observation skills in stores and Backstage
•Guide/ train store personnel on regulatory / Safeway safety and environmental compliance policies.
•Work in partnership with the stores to conduct accident investigation, determine casual factors, subrogation opportunity and implement preventative measures
•Work with Store manager / ASM to ensure execution of all safety programs / process in stores
Salary: Actual beginning salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
