To perform activities required to maintain the cleanliness of streets, right-of-ways, sidewalks and other public spaces in the River Market District and assigned downtown areas; answers questions and provides information and assistance to visitors of the River Market District and assigned downtown area.

Essential Job Functions:

Monitors assigned areas to maintain cleanliness in the River Market District and other assigned downtown areas; sweeps and picks up debris and litter from walkways, streets, storefronts, sidewalks, and other assigned public spaces. Answers questions and provides general information and assistance to visitors, downtown business owners, and the public within the River market and assigned Downtown areas; provides directions and responds to requests and inquiries. Investigates complaints and concerns from downtown business partners; forwards the information to the appropriate City department, agency, or organization and tracks follow-up to ensure resolution. Reports suspicious persons and activities to Police Department and requests Police assistance; checks stairwells, elevators, restrooms and lobbies for unauthorized persons or activities. Establishes and maintains continuous contact with Downtown business owners; conducts random surveys of Downtown businesses and patrons to determine public perception and opinion; reports observations and needs to appropriate City department, agency, or organization. Monitors and inspects River Market District and assigned downtown areas, grounds/facilities to identify problems, needed repairs, or other situations requiring attention, such as vandalism, inoperative equipment; public safety concerns, suspicious activity, reports problem situations to appropriate Department, agency, or organizations and follow-ups until problem areas or issues identified have been resolved. Performs basic grounds maintenance tasks to include trimming shrubs, removing weeds, watering trees and plants, and planting new plant materials. Attends River Market and Downtown committee meetings to stay informed of upcoming events, issues, and maintenance needs; coordinates River Market maintenance related items requiring attention with Little Rock Convention and Bureau (LRCVB) employees. Identifies any street lights not working and notifies appropriate personnel to replace and repair inoperative streets lights. Applies fertilizer and other chemicals to turf, vegetation, or grounds; monitors plant material to identify diseases or pest problems. Performs general landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks; pulls weeds from landscaped areas. Provides lead working supervision to assigned community service workers and volunteers for special projects; monitors assignments to ensure compliance with instructions. Replaces light bulbs in decorative street lights along sidewalks. Reports any missing or damaged city street signage to appropriate Department. Maintains inventory of all supplies and related equipment; orders and replenishes supplies. Operates a City vehicle in the performance of essential job functions.

Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements:

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of High School and one (1) year of experience in building and/or grounds maintenance involving manual labor or related area; two (2) years of customer service experience to include contact with the public or related area and one (1) year of leadership experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
