Rockdale County is accepting applications for the position of County Extension Agent in the Cooperative Extension Department This position is responsible for providing leadership for and coordinating family and consumer sciences programs that meet the needs of local clientele -homeowners, schoolteachers, youth, child care providers, restaurant owners and others. The position will serve as a resource for other staff members as they develop family and consumer sciences activities and events.
Provides leadership in working with local leaders, advisory groups, funding sources and elected officials to develop understanding and support of all Extension programs.
Organizes and maintains an effective needs assessment plan to ensure comprehensive county Extension program is developed to meet needs of local clientele without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex or disability status. Maintains adequate documentation to verify citizen involvement in needs assessment.
Facilitate workshops for people with chronic illness.
Manages county budget and donated funds according to guidelines established by the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension and Rockdale County.
Work with Rockdale County Public Schools to respond to teacher requests for programming for students in the areas of family and consumer sciences areas.
Uses the expertise of advisory groups, community leaders, public officials and representatives of intended audiences to analyze data, identify needs and assist in the developmental educational programs related to family and consumer sciences and 4-H and youth.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
Excellent public speaking skills to provide educational programs to youth and adult audiences.
Competency in written communication skills to utilize written media as an educational outlet.
Exhibit enthusiasm, positive attitude and a high standard of professionalism in personal contacts, appearance and work habits.
Time Management skills
Proficiency in subject matters to utilize current research data and information on emerging county issues in program development and teaching.
Possess a working knowledge of modem office equipment and software, e.g. Microsoft Word
Knowledge of cooperative extension and 4-H helpful
Bachelor's degree in family and consumer sciences related field.
Experience in developing and implementing educational programs for youth and adults.
