**THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION AND IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE RACE TO THE TOP GRANT WHICH HAS A PROJECT ENDING DATE OF AUGUST 2014. **
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the North Carolina State Board of Education, this position will assist in the alignment of the efforts of the overall RttT initiatives and State Board of Education goals.
The major respon
isbilities of the postion are as follows:
• Conduct research, analysis, and writing related to Race to the Top (RttT) grant and the NC State Board of Education goals
• Manage the working relationship between the RttT implementation and RttT implementation teams.
• Read and provide feedback on RttT evaluation reports
• Monitor the activities of the RttT evaluation team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
An ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of state, federal, and international education policies; broad knowledge of state and federal policy making procedures; excellent research, analytical, writing, and public speaking skills; working knowledge of computer productivity software programs; strong work ethic; team building and collaboration skills.
A strong candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong use of research methodologies and working to produce results through others.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Master’s degree in education and three years of experience in public education with emphasis on planning and developing innovative programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A competitive candidate will have a master’s degree in education, higher education, public policy, or a related humanities field with a concentration in education leadership; education research; education finance, program evaluation, or higher education.
Additionally a competitive candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience working as a researcher, analyst, or leader in the area of public education; higher education; public policy, or a closely related field.
