The SAP AMS Lead will lead the overall AMS governance, compliance, and support activities for the global SAP application and related bolt on applications. This Novelis AMS Lead will serve as the primary client interface to the AMS support organization in a matrix environment made up of both internal/external resources and/or services.
The role of the SAP AMS Team Lead is accountable to provide guidance and leadership to enforce globally defined standard governance practices around incident/problem management processes, change control processes, and minor enhancement requests. The lead will act on customer's behalf in proactively handling problems and making decisions based on the understanding of critical issues and priorities.
This position ensures that the organization is flexible enough to adapt and adhere to changing industry and technology needs. Maintaining industry knowledge and relationships with external stakeholders is also critical for success within this role. By partnering with other teams, the SAP AMS Lead will facilitate the delivery of the best IT solutions to help Novelis’ business units achieve the desired immediate and strategic outcomes.
Assume overall responsibility for understanding and leading operational aspects of the global SAP system(s) and related bolt-on applications
Establish, maintain, and enforce all operational processes, standards, procedures and practices such as incident/problem management, change control process, minor enhancement process, major incident processes based on ITIL in a global 24x7 environment
Provide project management for minor projects and initiatives
Troubleshoot and identify sources of problems related to the SAP systems
Manage service vendors for break/fixes (including dispatch, collaborative troubleshooting and problem resolution)
Coordinates cross functional teams to resolve chronic problems
Responsible for understanding and reviewing action plans for planned and unplanned changes related to the SAP systems
Must have analytical skills and the ability to work in a diverse team environment exchanging ideas and information with Developers, Team Leads, Project Managers, and users related to the SAP systems and applications
Owns and manages Change Control Processes
Reviews SAP daily/monthly operational reports to identify trending issues/gaps, capacity issues/risks. Documents findings and escalates and/or engages the appropriate resources to take action
Facilitates meetings with technology and business teams, and vendors to obtain feedback on performance and capacity resolutions, workarounds, and enhancements to ensure that performance or capacity issues are being addressed in a timely manner to the SAP ERP systems
Develop, maintain, and report relative metrics related to the AMS support organization
Provide overall support for quality compliance, SOPs, audit activities, and SOX activities
Assures the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential support tools (e.g., Service Desk tools, share point applications, team sites)
Take a leadership role in developing and maintaining productive relationships and key clients, stakeholders and technology partners to facilitate cross organizational communications and transparency
Strong coordination with CIO office, global applications COE, architecture team, infrastructure team, regional IT leaders, local IT leaders and business leaders as expected
Work closely with the PMO, Business Analyst, and Delivery organizations to ensure projects are delivering on what the business partners intended
Contribute content to internal COE websites and/or SharePoint sites
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology required
5-10+ years of practical Team Lead experience supporting business-critical ERP systems and managing support teams made up of onshore/offshore resources
2 - 4+ years support services for a SAP installation
Minimum of 2 large scale full life cycle SAP implementations
Technical hands on knowledge in SAP ECC 6.0, or later releases, SAP BI7.0, UNIX, Network, enterprise system management, tools and trending a plus
Ability to lead technical teams across the enterprise in the operational support aspects of complex solutions
Demonstrated strong quality assurance and delivery skills
Knowledge of iterative software development lifecycle and quality assurance best practices
Proven ability to deliver across internal technology organization as well as across a larger organization including external service providers
Ability to work closely and manage 3rd party vendors
Very strong customer service orientation
Knowledge in MS-Office Professional Products, including Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project
Excellent communication & leadership skills
Positive, flexible, open-minded approach towards work assignments
Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities
Good interpersonal skills with a natural ability to adapt to and work effectively with clients and co-workers with different styles and levels of technical knowledge
