Analyzes requirements and develops ABAP computer programs by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned under the direction of the Sr. Manager - Applications & Special Projects.
Interacts with others to gather information about SAP program needs, objectives, functions, features and input and output requirements.
Learns the SAP configuration of solutions for new business processes, enhancements, and upgrades as required by the functional business areas and approved by management.
Documents requirements for data, logical processes, internal and external controls, and output.
Converts requirements into ABAP computer code. Tests application code to ensure it meets specifications.
Participates in planned enhancements and upgrades to the business systems by performing adequate tests to ensure the changes do not adversely impact the production environment and ultimately the functional user areas.
Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs. Responsible for reacting to off-hour calls regarding system problems in a prompt and reasonable time.
Supports the team philosophy and team approach to problem solving. Works to improve the relationship between the various areas in the Information Technology Department by applying good interaction skills and demonstrating respect for others. Build those same relationship skills with internal and external customers you provide service to.
Stays abreast of best business practices by participating in discussion forums, seminars, training, user groups, Internet sources, and other organizations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a major in computer information systems, management information systems, computer science, or a closely related field. Can identify specific experience in writing computer programs using a generally recognized development tool. SAP development using ABAP programming is preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The development of strong computer skills are necessary for this position, including SAP ABAP programming, related SAP development tools, word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail. With relevant formal training over time, an ability to code, test and debug increasingly difficult and complex ABAP programs.
Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
