The SEM Consumer Trends Analyst for our consumer-focused sites (shopping) helps us understand how keyword characteristics, seasonal trends, and other factors impact our portfolio performance and bidding systems in order to maximize ROI and maintain revenue growth. The ideal candidate is:
- Data Driven
- Familiar with PPC management and the SEM business model
- Has experience with online shopping business models (e.g., revenue share)
- Excited to work on our large, complex data sets to drive business decisions
- Comfortable with diverse statistical methods
- Capable of summarizing complex findings into concise, deliverable results
- Able to communicate findings clearly and concisely
Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analysis and reporting on keyword portfolio performance.
Build keyword performance and customer behavioral models using statistical and non-statistical methods.
Investigate and model the impact of systemic and seasonal factors on portfolio performance.
Design new algorithms of portfolio bidding, keyword clustering, and performance prediction.
Drive innovation in applying data mining and statistical modeling in our bidding and keyword valuation systems to successfully meet ROI and team goals.
Work with portfolio managers to understand business requirements and processes and maintain a team-oriented approach in all efforts to optimize performance for various business segments.
Communicate statistical findings clearly and concisely, with consideration for differing levels of statistical knowledge in your audience.
Required Experience / Technical Skills
Experience or knowledge in several of the following areas: data mining, computational statistics, PPC management, lead generation, performance marketing, web analytics, pattern recognition, and financial modeling for trading and risk management.
Statistical experience should include:
Ability to translate complex statistical results to actionable business recommendations.
Knowledge and experience in diverse methods of regression/correlation analysis
Parametric and non-parametric inferential statistical methods
Preparing large data sets for statistical analysis (e.g., identifying outliers, variable transformation, Box-Cox analysis, etc.)
Detailed knowledge of assumptions underlying statistical analysis and ability to identify and correct data issues prior to analysis.
Experience with R, SAS, and/or SPSS, and scripts such as SQL and Perl.
Hands on experience in dealing with large, complex data sets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Interest and ability to work on a close, interdependent team of data-driven analysts and business owners.
Strong problem solving, time-management, organizational and project-management skills.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field is required, Masters or higher highly preferred.
Extremely analytical, detail oriented, and organized, with the ability to consistently multitask.
