Job Summary :
Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to design, develop, test and modify related electric components, equipment, products, and services at the plant. Able to design, specify, and manage the installation and programming of Operator Interface terminals, Windows based Area Control Systems, as well as PLCs, Servos, and various other electronic machine control apparatus. Due to the dynamic nature of our business, duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Maintenance of System
§ Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assist employees in solving work problems.
§ Diagrams logic system for functions such as sequence and timing control.
§ Designs monitoring and reporting systems to ensure operators and maintenance personnel can trouble shoot overall system performance to design.
§ May work in product evaluation and testing, using measuring and diagnostic devices to adjust, test, and repair equipment at the plant.
§ Works with process or plant engineer to ensure electrical and controls system deliver desired process performance.
§ Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and will teach/train electricians and technicians to perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
§ May test and inspect machines and equipment in manufacturing departments or work with engineers to eliminate production problems.
§ Reviews schematics with manufacturing representatives to answer questions during installation of robot systems. Able to design and lead draftsman in the development of schematics.
§ Plans, directs, and records periodic electrical testing and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
Develops project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions.
§ Assists with development and implanting the standards for electrical and controls components for use within the facility and with suppliers
§ Able to design analog and digital controls systems for proposed process or packaging or utility projects.
§ Responsible for monitoring, record keeping, and taking appropriate action for specified Food Safety Plan, Food Quality Plan and prerequisite program requirements.
§ Responsible to report food safety and quality issues to management.
Education and Experience
§ 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or 2 year degree with 5 years additional experience
§ 5 – 7 years of progressive experience in the area of controls, with knowledge of PLC’s and automation applications
§ Computer proficient in Microsoft Windows, Project, Office and AutoCad.
§ Programming knowledge and experience with PLC’s, Servos and other electronic machine control languages
§ Must be able to walk or stand on concrete floors, and climb ladders without difficulty or pain
§ Must be able to use hands and fingers to work on projects with crews
