Description WORK ACTIVITES/CONTEXT:

Assists the Sr. Manager in assuring SWA compliance with FAA directives, 14 CFR, manufacturers' manuals, SWA manuals, and that engineering authorization documents (EADs) contain correct materials, process and tooling references.

To further SWA Engineering's realization as a world class organization, critically review and streamline existing materials and processes (M and P) that are implemented by Engineering.

Assists internal engineering clients as well as other SWA organizations with regard to M and P issues.

Assesses Production and Line MX tooling needs and offers the most cost-effective solution.

Maintains tooling currency by reviewing and implementing recommendations of OEM tool control bulletins.

Collaborates in the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures with other departments to assure regulatory compliance requirements.

Creates and maintains design failure modes effects analysis for tooling created by SWA.

Establishes controls in the transportation, handling and storage of Hazmat materials and components.

Controls extensions of shelf-lives.

Assists in interiors modification and certification issues.

Resolves materials and process issues and substitutions.

Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.

Minimum Requirements BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION (Level, and degree if applicable)

Chemical Engineering or Materials Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent credentials in a scientific field.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Airline M and P/Tooling engineering 5 years minimum.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:

A and P or ISO 9000 certification training is desirable.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Must be able to speak, hear and remain in a sitting position for long periods of time.

Must be able to travel.

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
