In this position, you will be responsible for the preparation and submission of complex rate filings to insurance regulators and you will respond to related questions from Department of Insurance (DOI), Client Companies and/or functional areas within HSB.
You will design and support filing materials for new products and/or rating plans. You will determine insurance department filing requirements and maintain documentation required for filing rates with state insurance departments in accordance with DOI standards and guidelines. You will support the top line growth across all distribution channels, analyze experience rating information and may make recommendations as appropriate. You will perform research activities and/or participate in projects as required.
In addition, you will provide consulting, material and training regarding rating and filing issues and serve as a technical expert. You will act as a mentor or coach to junior colleagues and may assume supervisory responsibility as needed.
Qualifications – Education:
Required: College Degree
Qualifications – Work Experience:
Required: 8+ years experience making and defending rate and rule filings for Personal Lines and/or General Liability lines of business.
Desired: Experience making and defending rate and rule filings for Commercial Lines, Boiler & Machinery and/or lines of business. Exposure to Actuarial rating concepts and methodologies as well as Underwriting experience is preferred. Familiarity with coverage forms. Audit, market or conduct examinations.
Qualifications – Certifications/Designations/Specialized Training/Licenses:
Desired: - CPCU, CIC or other professional designation

Required: Ability to explain filing and compliance concepts. Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe. Capable of developing changes to methodologies & techniques.
Superior organizational and project management skills. Knowledge of HSB products and services. Knowledge of equipment exposures.
