In this position, you will develop business decision models for various business units by choosing and employing varied advanced statistical and mathematical methods. You will develop sophisticated underwriting profitability projections requiring considerable judgment in selecting relevant loss indicators and analyzing future trends using multivariate methods; this includes responsibility for CAT and similar enterprise risk analysis. You will work with business units to develop appropriate terms, conditions and pricing for new and modified products. You will be responsible for financial projects for new products. You will research and develop analytical tools appropriate to support robust business decisions. Participate in projects as assigned.
You will utilize the corporate data warehouse, Risk Analysis proprietary databases and simulations tools, develop risk analytic tools that support rate making, new business development and cost beneficial engineering activities. You will use a variety of statistical techniques in the analysis of data to include but not limited to univariate and multivariate regression, Monte Carlo simulations and loss severity distribution construction. You will continually interface with other divisions and groups within HSB.
Qualifications - Education:
Required: - MS in Mathematics, Statistics or Physics.
Desired: - Ph.D.
Qualifications - Work Experience:
Required: - 5-10 years experience in predictive analytics, data mining or statistical analysis.

Qualifications - Technical Skills:
Required: - Programming experience in .NET environment, VB or C#. Knowledge of frequentist and Bayesian statistical methods. Data analysis with SQL. MS Access and Excel.
Desired: - Experience with commercial analysis software, preferably SAP, Statistica, XLStat and Model Risk. Familiarity with text mining.
