This position requires a combination of technical and marketing savvy to optimize natural search engine rankings, in addition to communicating with internal media teams, account service staff, and external client contacts.

The successful SEO Manager will be responsible for the development, management, and execution of SEO strategies on client’s websites. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty of the job outlined below, and to accept special projects as assigned.


Website Optimization Strategies

- Website optimization for search engines: META data, copy recommendations, site architecture, page layout issues, internal and external linking
- Build on understanding of how search engines and their spiders work by conducting research and reporting key developments and news
- Provide recommendations and consult on HTML elements which impact SEO, different server types, scripting languages (ASP, PHP, JSP, .NET, etc.), JavaScript, and CSS
- Research and resolve link architecture, content and navigation issues, and other factors that impact the technical performance of a website
- Assist in wireframe creation and layout of web pages when needed
- Manage copywriting process with internal copywriters

Management & Training

- Manage and train SEO associates (link builders)

Tracking and Reporting

- Continually monitor organic search rankings to maximize traffic, revenue, leads, and other program KPI’s
- Analyze website strategies and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the strategies.
- Create and review monthly client reports
- Pull relevant program data from popular analytics packages such as Omniture, CoreMetrics, and Google Analytics
Link Building

- Execute link building strategies for multiple web properties simultaneously
- Research, test, and document new link building techniques
- Update link building strategies and techniques based on performance impact

Keyword Research

- Conduct keyword research using various tools based on program goals and KPI’s
- Test and document new keyword research tools
- Indentify landing pages for established keywords
- Create keyword level revenue forecasts


- 2+ years of SEO experience (Agency or In-House)
- 1+ year managerial experience a plus
- Proven track record of driving organic search performance and meeting KPI goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience communicating technical SEO issues to internal staff and external clients
- Creativity as it pertains to formulating new strategies to drive performance
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask effectively
- Fun, energetic, collaborative, and competitive personality
- Solid understanding search engine ranking factors, algorithms and principals
- Clear thinker with a strong process focus and results orientation
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite with a strong working knowledge of Excel
- Experience supporting SEO performance using social media a plus
- Participation in the interactive marketing community a plus
