To provide support to the University's computing environment through technical knowledge and support of desktop, server, and large scale systems operating systems.
Thorough knowledge of Unix and Linux hardware and software and appropriate system practices. Thorough knowledge of Windows hardware and software and appropriate system practices. Knowledge of data communications in the LAN environment. Demonstrated ability to interact with computer vendors and University community. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage time. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical and project leadership to other staff as required.
Thorough knowledge of Solaris and LINUX operating systems. Thorough knowledge of AFS, NFS and TSM Software products. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems. Experience with system scripting and/or basic computer programming in languages such as Basic and C/C++. Experience with securing servers and documenting security measures for compliance verification. A+ Hardware Certification.
40 hour work week Monday-Friday; Some evenings and weekends; rotating on call
