The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) has broad expertise and is equally competent to serve adults and pediatrics. The technologist works under the general supervision of the Sleep Disorders Manager, with support from the medical director, to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. Responsibilities include performing nocturnal/daytime polysomnography, MSLTs, MWT's, diagnostic and therapeutic patient care and education, and other duties as assigned.

Job duties

Maintains competency to provide the care and services as it applies to the department's patient/customer population and as defined in the department's Scope of Service document.

Performing Nocturnal/Daytime Polysomnography (Ensure Safe, Patient-Centered Flow) Performs sleep studies according to Sleep Disorders Center policies and guidelines.

Successfully completes sleep study analysis and completely scores and stages one sleep study per shift and stages a second study per shift.

Stages sleep studies and performs patient hookups per American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) protocol.

Completes required documentation for all sleep studies.

Answer telephones in a professional manner.

Measure and record height and weight on patients


Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum experience: 6-18 months direct experience as a sleep technician per one of 4 pathways as mandated by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). Transfer training required within first 30 days of hire. ECG- Online Modules (1-3) required within first 6 months of hire.

Required licensure/certifications: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Current BLS issued by the American Heart Association. P.E.A.R.S.-Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization certification required within first 3 months of hire.

Need Computer and LAN Basics.


Pediatric and adult patient care experience.
