Position Title: SMTS Process Engineer
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Summary of Duties: Collaborate with GLOBALFOUNDRIES technology development and manufacturing groups and participate in development of front-end-of-line (FEOL)/ back-end-of-line (BEOL) chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) processes for 20nm technology and beyond. Design, execute, and analyze experiments to screen and optimize FEOL/BEOL CMP processes and equipment to meet technology (e.g., performance, yield, and reliability) and manufacturing (e.g. process stability, cost of ownership) targets. Work with integration and device groups in the technology development and the manufacturing teams to plan and execute projects and implement solutions on schedule. Engage with tool suppliers to highlight new FEOL/BEOL CMP process requirements and evaluate new equipment solutions. Define and maintain FEOL/BEOL CMP process and equipment roadmaps. Transfer technology developed in the Advanced Module Technology Development (AMTD) group to the operation group in Fab8 in Malta, NY, or other fabs if necessary.
Qualifications: Requires a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry or related field plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or 7 years of experience as Process Engineer or related occupation. Also requires mastery of principles and working knowledge of various FEOL/BEOL CMP processes and equipment. Understanding of and familiarity with various characterization techniques including SEM, TEM, and XRD. In-depth understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Design of Experiments (DOE). Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners. Experience at CMP technology in major semiconductor foundry company. Alternately will accept a Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of experience or a PhD plus 5 years of experience in lieu of a Master's degree and 7 years of experience.
