Directs, plans and supervises a unit of social workers providing intensive casework services in a county, service area or institution, or performs specialist and supervisory duties related to social work programs in a county, service area or in the central office; performs related work as required.
This position is supervised by the Social Work Administrator and is based in Webster County. The following details general responsibilities of this position:
Supervise and evaluate the work of service and clerical staff; effectively recommend personnel actions related to selection, disciplinary procedures, performance, leaves of absence, grievances, work schedules and assignments; and administers personnel and related policies and procedures.
Conduct individual and group conferences with social work staff to analyze case problems and to improve their diagnostic skills.
Provide intensive casework consultation as needed to social workers with clients having difficult and complex problems.
Implement programs as directed through the use of in-service training, staff meetings, conferences, and special training programs authorized by the Department.
Develop general procedures and plans for the operations of the service programs in the assigned area.
Interpret programs to interested groups and the general public; relate the programs to other community activities and participate in the development of resources in the community.
Confer with field consultants and other departmental officials on technical problems involving interpretation and application of policies, procedures, and regulations
Participate in special projects as requested by a higher level administer; may also serve as part of the management team.
Prepare or direct the preparation of records and reports.
Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in social work and experience equal to two years of full-time supervisory work in a social work program .
