This position is a member of the statewide Child and Adult Abuse Intake Unit. Under the general supervision of the Centralized Service Area Social Work Administrator, the Protective Services Program Specialist provides consultation, training, technical assistance and analysis of performance data relative to child and dependent adult intakes. This position will not carry a caseload, but will require an in-depth knowledge of policies dealing with child and dependent adult abuse and related programs in order to be able to provide the intake worker with immediate feedback regarding their work. This position will review cases and will need to assist the intake worker with questions on the spot. Accuracy, timeliness and consistent procedures will be very important in serving the state of Iowa's customers. Due to the essential nature of the statewide Child and Adult Abuse Intake Unit making critical determinations for regarding acceptance or rejection of cases throughout the state, case reading, mentoring, monitoring, and constant feedback and training for staff will be essential.

Specific Duties include: Monitor intake worker’s phones calls for quality and accuracy; provide technical assistance and case consultation to the intake workers; review changes entered into the computer systems; provide feedback to the intake workers regarding their performance; provide specialized training to intake workers; provide routine reports to the SWA; and handle angry calls or callers for whom the intake worker is unable to meet their needs.

Develops/implements quality assurance measure that include, but are not limited to, case file reviews in accordance with policy with findings documented and staff development/training needs identified and system management reports monthly review to monitor compliance and establishes plans of corrective action as necessary.

Provides interpretation and monitoring of Federal, State and Departmental policies and procedures pertaining to the execution of child and dependent adult abuse intakes to insure uniformity and consistency of application and practice. Regular contact is maintained with area offices to respond timely to policy/procedure questions and to provide technical assistance.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and the equivalent of four years of full-time experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency.
