Job Description - Behavioral Health Provider
We are seeking a part-time 20 hrs/per week, Behavioral Health Provider (BHP) to provide individual and group substance abuse treatment services for HIV-positive individuals and individuals at high-risk for contracting HIV as part of a federally-funded grant. The grant is managed by the Duke Center for Health Policy and Health Inequalities Research, which conducts research on outcomes of these interventions. This position is located in Durham NC and is one of five Behavioral Health Provider grant funded positions, three in Durham and two in Charlotte NC. The Behavioral Health Provider will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of health care providers, case coordinator, peers, and researchers.
1. Provide substance abuse treatment (80%)
a. Complete structured client assessment
b. Provide individual substance abuse/mental health treatment using evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy and motivation enhancement therapy
c. Co-facilitate structured substance abuse treatment group
d. Provide substance abuse and mental health education for clients as needed
2. Coordinate with interdisciplinary team (10%)
a. Attend weekly multidisciplinary team meetings with case coordinator and peers involved in client care
b. Provide support and education for case coordinator and peer around substance abuse and mental health issues or concerns.
3. Collect research data and assist with interpreting data analysis (5%)
4. Attend trainings and community meetings (5%)
Applicants should have an MSW, PhD, or LPC and be licensed and should have experience with substance abuse and mental health treatment. A Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) is preferred; if the hired applicant does not have it, they will work toward this special addictions licensure.
Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS and men who have sex with men is highly desirable. Interest and experience working with diverse racial and ethnic groups is required. Work requires a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.
