A Dell Secureworks Architect is a recognized thought leader in technology and network security within the enterprise. Our architects have extensive experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of high performance systems. Experience includes real-time messaging, high volume work flow, large volume business information reporting, frameworks and abstractions, and system security. He/She will work with business and senior technical leaders to continually evolve our conceptual architecture and drive the conceptual to physical translation into industry leading security services. The architect will also work with project managers and technical leaders to ensure that each new iteration of functionality conforms to best practices and that design impacts are fully understood across all dimensions of our operation.
This is an exciting time at Dell SecureWorks. Security is a challenging and dynamic field. We process extremely high volumes of security event data and are experiencing rapid customer growth on a global scale. Our security platform is integral to the security of Dell’s Cloud Initiatives. The successful candidate will be a member of a high performance team and will have opportunities to have direct impact on our strategic technical direction.

The position we are seeking to fill will entail a 75% focus on working directly with multiple engineering teams in one of our technical pillars. The specific technical pillar covers our customer facing UI's and our Threat Intelligence offeri. Each of these components has opportunities for creative contribution and impact. The remaining 25% focus will be spent working with peer architects on broader platform initiatives and innovation.

Responsibilities of the architect will include:
  • Work with senior management, business analysts, and product management to influence strategic vision, and translate business vision into conceptual architecture
  • Work with information and usability architect to influence decisions and translate vision into conceptual architecture
  • Drive architectural evolution to optimize platform extensibility and resiliency
  • Drive architectural improvements to maximize platform performance and scalability
  • Mentor our IT organization on business and technical vision and related architecture standards
  • Actively promote sound engineering principles among technology team members
  • Identify training that will develop necessary skills for technical staff, as well as promoting understanding of the MSSP space
  • Cultivate creativity throughout the engineering organization
  • Research, evaluate and formally recommend third party software and technology packages and services
  • Assist teams in adopting new infrastructure and technologies
  • Actively participate in the implementation of pilots/ proofs-of-concept of new business applications and infrastructure
  • On occasion, assist in production escalations and problem resolution
  • Provide occasional SME participation at security conferences or media calls
Required Technical Qualifications:
10+ years of increasingly challenging experience in the following areas:
Design and building high transaction distributed systems
Design and implementation of data structures to match business models and meet business information delivery goals
Design and implementation of complex, work flow driven User Interfaces
Debug and performance tuning in distributed multi-threaded environments
Messaging technologies
Understanding of highly available, fault tolerant architectures
Understanding of Service oriented Architecture, service abstraction, and transaction management

Education:
  • Minimum of MS in Computer Science or hard engineering degree
  • Ongoing technical training through vendors, continuing education and/or strategic consultants
