Senior Unix System Administrator (R12-325)

Directs the most complex technical activities required for the design, security, installation, integration, as well as ongoing support of the PGE UNIX systems. Posted at the Senior Specialist level, but may be filled at the Specialist V level if appropriate.

Top candidates will have:
Typically a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a related discipline.

Typically over seven years of previous UNIX experience.

Advanced or comprehensive knowledge of current UNIX operating system environments, hardware installation and configuration, volume and file system management, networking and networking protocols, shell scripting, and common UNIX administration tools and utilities.

Advanced or comprehensive knowledge of best practices relating UNIX system design and implementation including security hardening and patching, build and configuration management, process automation, and account management according to the “least privilege” principle.

Advanced or comprehensive knowledge of virtual machine and hypervisor technologies, high-availability clustering solutions, enterprise backup and monitoring systems, and basic SAN/storage topologies and technologies.

Experienced making formal presentations to both business and technical professionals.

Ability to work as a self-directed member of the team, seeking out guidance as needed.
