Reports to the Reports to Director of Introductory Biology Programs. Oversees laboratory preparation in the Division of Life Sciences courses on the Busch and Douglass Campuses. Supervises the Laboratory Operations Coordinators involved in these courses, manages and maintains course equipment and supplies, and assists teaching assistants with student research projects by meeting with student groups to review their materials and methods and advise as appropriate. Assists faculty and teaching assistants in organizing and conducting a variety of specialized experimental procedures in student laboratories and in the day to day administration of the courses. Responsible for the numerous pieces of highly technical equipment used in the course offerings and the care and security of the facility in which these laboratory sections are taught.

Job Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in a science curriculum or a combination of college education and work experience as a technician/lab coordinator. Master's Degree in Life Science preferred. Working knowledge of scientific research design and laboratory techniques in biology, ranging from those used in introductory level (General Biology) to more advanced (Genetics and Microbiology) courses, but specifically conducting and analyzing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and electrophoresis and preparing DNA samples for sequencing required. Demonstrates basic chemistry skills needed to prepare reagents needed in laboratory activities required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and writing skills for generating laboratory exercise protocols for teaching assistants and students and disseminating information to faculty, staff, teaching assistants, and students required. Ability to work independently and carry out multiple concurrent tasks required. Experience with website development , teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred. Experience extracting, purifying, and isolating DNA from bacteria, plant, and animal samples preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
