Senior Software Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Software Engineer performs engineering and design for business, health care and other internal and external custom software needs using industry standard methodologies including Agile development practices. The Senior Software Engineer will work with other design and development members, internal and external clients, management and others to gather requirements, perform feasibility and analysis, translate requirements into concrete deliverables including but not limited to mock-ups, source code, and documentation. The Senior Software Engineer organizes implementation efforts and assists in coding and development of solutions. This position also works closely with engineering and infrastructure staff to ensure appropriate resource coordination and infrastructure planning. The Senior Software Engineer provides project management duties as required and coordinates with the NAH Project Management Office

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledgeable and experienced in all of the following languages and technologies: C#, ASP.Net, IIS, XML, HTML (HTML5 Preferred), CSS2+, Javascript, MS SQL / Transact SQL, database design and modelling, Visual Studio .NET, .NET compiler (CSC), Nunit, SOAP, web services, WCF Data Services, Subversion or git

Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Preferred

Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years professional experience in assessing and designing solutions Required
- Excellent customer interaction and partnering skills Required
- Deep practical knowledge of software development, including:
o Software development lifecycle, including waterfall, and at least one Agile methodology
o Web application development
o Database design
o Code revision management
o Unit testing and quality assurance
- Design and/or development of learning management systems (LMS) Preferred

SKILLS:
- Skillsets to include all languages and technologies indicated in Qualifications above.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple task assignments.
- Ability to communicate with technical and non technical users effectively in English
- Advanced personal computer skills (MS productivity tools: Outlook, Office, SharePoint, etc.)
- Handles stress effectively
- Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills
- Excellent problem solving and analysis abilities
- Ability to work effectively independently and appropriately manage time
- Ability to break problems down into manageable tasks and prioritize

JOB DUTIES:
- Gathers requirements from solution owners / sponsors
- Develops design mock ups
- Determines operational feasibility through analysis, problem definitions, requirements, and inter-team
coordination
- Develops documentation including, but not limited to, mockups, class diagrams, entity relationship diagrams,
and use cases
- Develops support and administration level documentation for deployed solutions
- Develops and execute software testing plans
- Determines and acquires necessary server and software licensing to facilitate solutions
- Works with engineering / infrastructure team members to ensure appropriate infrastructure and architecture
support
- Directs software programming activities of other team members
- Assists in implementation of software solutions
- Develops data modeling, persistence strategies, and integration strategies
- Develops and maintain software development standards
