This position reports to the Director of Employee Relations and Staff Development in the Department of Human Resources. This position has the responsibility of developing, planning, coordinating and conducting the Training and Development program at East Carolina University. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, new employee orientation, management training programs, certification programs, consultation/development and delivery of department-specific requests for training and development, management of the University training catalog, calendar and SharePoint site, and collaboration with other areas to provide quality training and staff development opportunities, as well as serving as backup to the Employee Relations Consultants. In addition, this position will serve as the point of contact for education technology as it relates to HR-sponsored programs, as well as responsibility for the upkeep of the Human Resources website. This position is also responsible for assisting in the coordination of Employee Recognition programs such as Service Awards, Treasured Pirate, State programs, etc. This position may also attend committees and/or meetings in the stead of, and at the request of, the Director of Employee Relations and Staff Development. Special projects related to staff development are assigned to the person in this position. The ability to work cohesively with executive management, faculty, administration and staff with the ability to communicate ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to interact professionally and effectively with contacts on all levels. Candidates should also possess the ability to function independently and successfully, manage multiple responsibilities, handle confidential information and highly sensitive matters in a timely and professional manner. Excellent organizational, time management and analytical skills are essential.
Preferred education/experience (in addition to the required): Two years experience in staff development, educational technology and web design.
Bachelor's degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
